Question Disability - Loss of Job Possible

    Hello reader

    I have:

    • Degenerative Disc Disease in upper Cervical Spine 3rd and 5th discs in spine, neck
    • Chronic Neuropathic Pain Disorder in Cervical Spine Neck and Left Shoulder

This has been since 2005, and has got worse over this period of time.

I have had the odd days off from work over the period of last year, some times I would go in and then go home because the pain was unbearable, my last absence was the longest
that being 2 and half months during Feb - Apr 2010, due to having chest problems, breathlessness, pains, I was checked out to see if it was angina fortunately it wasn't it is all down to the stress which has been aggravated by work, because of my pain, which I manage through medication and physio,
they are always constantly on to me. My manager then, doesn't like me having the micro breaks
as it is effecting my performance to work as does my health issues.

Any way long story short, up on returning back to work on a phase back to work process,
they have told me if I am off any more from here on, I am at risk of losing my job,

I have had access back to work out to see me and they are submitting me for a rising table, special chair, keyboard, mouse.

There point made in a meeting is, they do not have any proof in front of them that states I have a disability, I approached my doctor who looked it up that I do meet with the DDA, as my health issues do effect my day to day living/life.

    My question is:
How do I get myself proof of having a DISABILITY?

Are there any 'person or person's I can get this from?
    Where do I go?

Apart from the doctor that is OR should this be enough, a letter from the GP?!!!!
    Any help appreciated at all?

I can go into further detail if any body wishes me to concerning my situation and advise further.

    thanks for reading.

    Hello Masters,

Different workplaces may have slightly different requirements for providing proof of your disability. If you haven't already, I would advise that you check with your human resources department to clarify what you need to provide proof of your disability.

You have a right under the Disability Discrimination act (DDA) not to be discriminated against based on your disability. For more information on this, please visit the Directgov website section on employment rights and the Disability Discrimination Act. The Directgov website has a section with information on employment support for people with disabilities which you may also find helpful.

We had a similar post on this forum last year which received a few responses, you can follow this link to the thread or search this forum for 'proof of disability'.

I hope you have found this information useful.

    Kind Regards,
