Hi I'm an OT who recently visited africa. There is a 10 year old girl with sickle cell anaemia whose mother is carrying her everywhere. I would like to send her a buggy and was thinking of the Maclaren major, but I'm not sure how long it would last her. She is slight to medium build for a 10 year old, average height. The terrain is dirt paths and tarmac. Can you recommend anything?

My freestanding gas cooker used to be stand-alone, with space all round it, so I could turn the handles of pots and pans round to avoid catching them accidentally. My new flat has a smaller kitchen, and the cooker has got to be right next to the only available worktop.

I saw, years ago, a hob guard/rail that went round all three exposed sides of the hob - but I can't find it now. I've seen some child-proof ones, but they only seem to cover the front, and I'm going to need both sides protected as well.

Does anyone know where I might find something that does the job, or how something can be adapted to do it?

Thanks

Frances

Hi

I wonder if anyone could advise please.

When we go to the local Wheelchair Services clinic with our child to be assessed for a suitable wheelchair, it is clear that they only have one type of wheelchair and one external supplier who can make adaptations to it to make it just ok. This results in a one size fits all situation.

Clearly, this isn't good enough, but who can we go to to be assessed properly, told what our child needs in terms of support function etc, and be given a choice of wheelchairs?

We know about the voucher scheme, but without advice on what our child needs within a wheelchair, we haven't got a clue where to start. We know there are lots of companies out there providing suitable wheelchairs but it's a bit of a minefield.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Does anyone have any info on how we can loan or hire an electric mobile hoist in the Suffold area? it would need to be delivered and collected as there is very little room left in her vehicle once he is in it. He is extremely disabled and has a very complicated wheelchair. If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated. Many thanks Susan

Hi. I've been looking for a bed cradle that is suitable for use on an electric profiling bed.
Most bed cradles for standard beds are held in place by a section going beneath the mattress, however with profiling beds this isn't safe as there is a risk that either the cradle could fall through the slats of the bed, or when the bed is profiling the cradle could move, harming the client.
I've searched for cradles that sit on top of the mattress (the folding bed cradle on DLF from Mediworld that could have been suitable has been discontinued).
If anyone has any suggestions i'd be very greatful.
Thanks
